KTEC students have access to a continually growing collection of books.  Aside from the traditional books, KTEC offers many digital resources like Nooks, and subscriptions to online websites that have audio and visual versions of popular books.  The district also provides Overdrive, a digital book resource. Students are provided with multiple research tools including web-based encyclopedias, scholarly search engines.

Accelerated Reader is a program that all KTEC students grades 1-5 use.  The library materials are aligned with the levels and titles used in the program.  Click here for more information about Accelerated Reader

KTEC’s library curriculum includes technology, research, and digital citizenship taught through a variety of tools. Students are taught to use iPads, Chromebooks, and laptop computers.  They are exposed to educational apps and the creative resources online. Of course they also learn about the parts of books, authors, research strategies, and note taking.

KTEC students have the opportunity to participate in district and state Battle of the books at both the elementary and middle-school levels, English Festival, and other reading competitions. They also participate in many National activities such as Hour of Code, Six Flags Read to Succeed, and Pizza Hut Book It.
